| How to listen to sound files | ||||
|
The audio files on the Barley Rye part of the site are highly compressed mp3s. This means that the sound quality is slightly lower than CD, but the files are much smaller (in bytes) so I can get more on the site and you can download them quicker onto your computer if you wish. There are two main ways to listen to the files: On the Internet: If you have a broadband connection, it should be very easy to listen to the files on the Internet. Just click the file once. Your computer should then play the file in its default music player (possibly Windows Media Player, the Quicktime player or something similar). Remember you should have your speakers switched on, or headphones plugged in. Headphones are better in some ways because the resource files are stereo, and the featured vocal part will be in one channel, with any other parts in the other channel. Download to your computer: If you are using a dial-up connection, or would prefer to have the files on your own computer, right click on a file and from the list that appears, left click on Save Target As. A dialogue box will appear in which you can direct your computer where on your hard drive you want to save the file, and what its filename should be. You should now be able to find the file on your hard drive and double click it to open it. Let me know if you need more information or advice |
